I came across the most wonderful cleaner today. She is fanatical about cleaning a real perfectionist and a professional at that. She regularly ready cleaning tips and here are her top 3:
- Instead of throwing out old sponges blast for 30 secs on high in a microwave – good as new!
- Been chopping onions and garlic – can’t get the smell off your hands – if you have a stainless steel sink then you’re in luck as you just wipe your hands around the steel and rinse – the smell will be banished!
- When cleaning a mirror use vinegar (not too much!) and water with a soft cloth and then wipe clean. Use kitchen roll to dry the glass afterwards as this makes it really shine!
- Use fresh lemon juice on stainless steel and in ovens – gives a really great shine and smells good too!

I have a question on cleaning microwaves. I am guility of microwaving a bag of popcorn beyond eatable.
The result. Stains in the microwave that I can not get out.
